Captain's Frames 2.6

Earth Date 8.11.2016

Now this one is something special, being the last work I did at school before my work training started. Everything about it just works. Sublime.

After cutting the oval hole through the passepartout, I sketch the outline and started drawing. Flowers and things. You know, manly stuff.

Daintily painted the flowers with watercolours.

The blue tape comes into play later, it protects the edge of the oval from getting messed up with mixtion oil that's used to attach the gold in place. I used the 30 minute oil and had to apply the gold immediately since the passepartout sucks it up so fast.

I left a few parts of the background white to irritate the eye a bit. Guuuurl u lookin' so fine.

After applying the gold came time to rub it 'till it shined, bright like a diamond.

Used a black ink pen to make the gold pop out more.

Just, look at it.

Here it is, the finishing touch. The reason I started making this.

Nnnnnngh. Oh yeah.

Oh yes.

Now for the actual frame.

Top it off with a gold frame. Something's still missing.

Thankfully the school had some wallpaper samples.

Slapped on some wallpaper paste inside and on the outside. Slapped it good.

I'm so proud.

Here you have it. What a work to end on. Are you satisfied? I know I am. Call me.

Here's a quick one that I did, it's held together by glue and faith, basically.

The seaside atmosphere worked out really well, considering the only authentic thing in it are the seashells. The water felt so barren until I drew some waves on it to give it a bit of movement. Or maybe it's a pond.

There's absolutely no way to open this without breaking it apart. It looks soooooo good though that I'll never have to!

You might remember this frame from an old post, I finally found something to put in it! Had to make it myself. Of course.

Just look at those pretty colours. Yummm.

Captain's Frames 2.3

Earth Date 5.9.2016

Nothing that out of the ordinary with this one, just honing my skill and efficiency.

We were given photos of paintings, I just had to give them a proper home. I'm very pleased with the way the work fits so well in its surroundings.

Believe it if you will. I've never before cut two hole in a passepartout. I know! The heinous error had to be rectified.

Everything ended up complementing each other with this one, the passepartout, the who-knows-how-longs-it's-been-here frame I chose. It gives the photos a certain, warm elegance. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Now we begin the new, illustrious year. It was kickstarted with business as usual.

It looks good here but the struggle was real, it was painted a horrid, faded pink before a give it a proper paint job. It needed to look regal.

You can never go wrong by applying gold and a nice shine to the frame. Whoever says otherwise is dead inside and an enemy of the Galactic Empire. You are being watched.

A frame needs a picture, none was provided so one must be made. Looks good enough.

The passepartout was looking forlorn, sad and cold so I added a bit to it. The text came out well but the other bits I'm not that happy with. Oh well, I can always just swap the contents. It is a good looking frame though.

Captain's Frames 2.1

Earth Date 5.9.2016

The ever efficient educational body on this planet has once again begun anew. Not much was accomplished by the ever vigilant, ever faithful Captain of the Galactic Imperial Fleet. The entertainment value of the so called "videogames" utterly devastated much of my recreational time. As well as a large portion of my sleep cycle.

Let us begin by the swan song of my last work last year.

Only the most massive, extravagant frame was adequate to the marvelous splendour that is this mask. The fear that the frame chosen was too heavy was quickly brushed aside as a feverish fury took over. I had to give the exquisite mask a proper abode.

The plaster made of glue and chalk powder was applied to the corners, the way the cut edges clashed with each other was appalling. The red cloth was partly attached to the plywood cradle and filled with cotton to give the mask a proper resting place. When the plaster had been carved to my very specific desires, I painted the cold white over with a warmer color as it will give the gold more warmth later on.

The outer sides of the plywood box were a barren wasteland until they were blessed with the gentle touch of delicate, sensual brush. It needed more however. It always needed more. Cloth strips bathed in glue, arranged and left to dry appeared promising but only time would tell. They were dried with the same color as the plaster.

The gold looked marvelous. Absolutely brilliant. Quite.

Oh yeah, baby.

Layers of lacquer were applied to give the gold more resilience and a proper properties.

Marvelous. Now, I had completely forgotten to add the finished picture of a previous work. I'm terribly sorry. Honest.

Captain's Frames 1.12

Earth Date 25.5.16

Another Herculean task accomplished! I've begun reading local mythology, quite entertaining I must admit. Although their more modern attempts at writing I find lacking. For the most part. I bought what I believe to be war memorabilia from the "internet" and finding no other use for it I had to frame them. I still have more than I could ever possibly need. Maybe the rest will find a home in a "museum".

The battlefield begins to take form.

The backboard was cardboard at first but the paper mache didn't dry, at all. So out with the cardboard and in with the shiny, spiffy, sexual backboard made of same kind of wood mesh... I dunno.

War, war is hell.

Oh the inhumanity!

These battle close-ups are so intense.

Still looks kinda boring though...

Boom! Colour!

I realized I have no photos of the finished piece. Guess I'll have to right on that!
It's massive by the way, 120cm wide. Giggity.
